Living with Consumer Duty explored at Compliance Forum

Forty delegates from 23 member organisations attended the BVRLA’s second Compliance Forum last week. Topping the agenda were sessions on ‘Living with Consumer Duty rather than implementing’ and ‘Complaints: opportunity or challenge?’.

Speakers at the Forum included a representative from HM Treasury, Tom Wymer, Senior Policy Advisor on Consumer Credit who gave a presentation on Consumer Credit Act (CCA) reform. The first panel discussion was about operating with Consumer Duty after implementation and featured James Pattison from Novuna, Adrian Dally from the Finance & Leasing Association, Luis Hernandez from DWF Law and Emma Freeman from Inchcape Retail.

Delegates were also given a deeper understanding of complaints with a look at good and bad examples of complaint handling, complaint trends and how to learn from complaints. This was with Sallie Catchpole of the BVRLA and Janine Eden from Deloitte.

Subscribers to the Compliance Forum can access the resources on the BVRLA website.

The BVRLA’s 2023 Compliance Forum programme is supported by specialist legal firms Shoosmiths LLP and DWF Law LLP, who will host the forums and provide access to sector experts. The October Forum will now take place in-person in London rather than online as previously planned.

BVRLA Forums are run on a subscription-based model with limited spaces remaining on the 2023 programme - enquire about becoming a subscriber.
