The BVRLA’s Senior Manager and Certification Regime (SM&CR) five-step Development Programme has received positive member feedback on the effectiveness of the training.
Amie Darby from Central Contracts (SOT) Ltd, said: “This programme helped me to get a clear and straightforward SOR in place, and provided the most helpful information surrounding SOR that I have received out of 4 or 5 courses.”
The BVRLA’s programme combines expert guidance with independent learning which can all be completed during times of remote working.
To ensure SM&CR deadlines remain consistent, and to provide extra time for firms that need it, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has extended the deadline for the following requirements from 9 December 2020 to 31 March 2021:
- the date the Conduct Rules come into force
- the deadline for submission of information about Directory Persons to the Register
- references in its rules to the deadline for assessing Certified Persons as fit and proper (which has been agreed by the Treasury).
This will give firms significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic time to make the changes they need.
The Financial Conduct Authority has been clear however, ‘that the sooner firms prepare for the change - the better'.
