The FCA has published its Inside FCA podcast: Culture and the Senior Managers & Certification Regime, which is a must-listen for firms preparing to implement SM&CR in December.
The podcast is aimed at solo-regulated firms, preparing to implement SM&CR on 9 December, and will also be of great interest to firms who have already implemented the regime, and are looking at their culture.
The podcast features an interview with FCA Executive Director Jonathan Davidson and guest Dame Jayne-Anne Gadhia, former Chief Executive of Virgin Money. Jonathan and Jayne-Anne discuss the impact of SM&CR and its role in creating a healthy financial services culture, including Conduct Rules and Certification.
Jayne-Anne draws on her own experiences of culture in the financial services industry. Using this, she offers an interesting and informed approach, and comments; “I think everybody deserves to operate in a business world of integrity, I think everybody can get much more out of being in a business that operates for good.”
By using real-life examples, the podcast brings to life the complexities and issues around culture in firms.
