Updated BVRLA Fair Wear & Tear Guide for commercial vehicles

The new guide for commercial vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and minibuses up to 17 seats is being published this week and members can now pre-order printed or digital copies.

The guide has been updated following a comprehensive review by an expert working group comprising of representatives from our member organisations, fleet operators, auction houses, de-fleet organisations, the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association.

A number of changes have been applied to the new guide that relate to:

  • Chips, dents and scratches

  • Windscreens

  • Minor repairs

  • Major repairs

  • Direct Vision Sensors and ADAS, in-cab cameras

  • Body Scratches

  • Passenger vehicles

  • Curtains and Pelmets

We make it clear that if equipment is fitted (with or without permission of LeaseCo) and if it is removed (with or without permission of LeaseCo) the return standard is that the surface must be made good.

Any members currently using the LCV guide to assess fair wear & tear for minibuses up to 17 seats can continue to do so and the BVRLA dispute resolution service will assess complaints about minibuses based on the guide used.
