As part of the updates to the BVRLA’s e-Learning platform, the association has secured Specialist Automotive Finance (SAF) accreditation to help members keep compliant. In line with this, the BVRLA is delighted to announce that it is launching its new SAF Expert Essentials e-Learning package to help support the Leasing Broker community.
Changes to the Finance & Leasing Association (FLA)’s Lending Code came into effect in January 2023. It is a requirement for FLA members to deal only with SAF-accredited Leasing Brokers and National Franchised Dealerships. According to the FLA’s Lending Code, all customer-facing staff selling and advising on consumer vehicle finance must be competent and evidence their competence on an annual basis.
The BVRLA obtained SAF Expert Equivalence Status for its learning materials in October 2022. The BVRLA’s unique selling point is its focus on regulatory and leasing products backed up by its inspection programme.

The association will give members a choice of e-Learning packages, either Essentials or the new SAF Expert Essentials Package. The ‘Expert’ package is SAF equivalent and includes modules:
- Anti-Bribery
- Anti-Money Laundering
- Complaints Handling
- CONC
- GDPR
- Fraud Avoidance
- Financial Crime Prevention
- Personal Conflicts of Interest
- Safeguarding
- TCF
- Whistleblowing
- Intro to SM&CR
Also available within this package to Leasing Brokers with Funder Relationships will be Personal Contract Hire, Finance Lease and Business Contract Hire with more lease-based modules to follow.
