Forum looked at managing EV fleets

The BVRLA’s latest Technical and Operational Management (TOM) Forum took place last week with 48 delegates attending and a forum theme of managing electric vehicle fleets.

Highlights from the first session looking at key aftermarket trends with speakers from Fleet Assist, i247 and IMS (Insurance & Mobility Solutions) included:

  • There is a growing market share for independent repair outlets,

  • The proportion of formal or informal car finance extensions has risen to around 10%,

  • The surge of new model launches featuring innovative technology is leading to more unscheduled events and a greater risk of vehicle downtime - due to issues with batteries, autonomous features, and infotainment systems,

  • 60% of fleet order books are now EV/BEV,

  • There are early signs of growing lead times for replacement EV tyres.

Delegate feedback included: "Happy with the look and feel of the forums, along with the topics covered - thank you BVRLA and keep up the good work!" and "I think the format is really good and even though it's two hours, it never feels like it due to the interesting speakers".

The next TOM Forum will be held on 4 November 2021. More information and presentations from previous forums
