Write to your MP to help drive destination charging

The installation of EV chargers at the end-point of journeys (hotels, tourist sites, etc.) is critical to building confidence in electric vehicles. EV charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly, but destination chargers, where drivers park for hours, are still underrepresented, affecting user trust.

The Bon VoyCharge destination charging campaign, launched by BVRLA in coalition with Autotrader, ChargeUK, EVA England, UK Hospitality, UKinbound, and Zapmap, aims to:

  • Raise awareness about the importance of destination charging;
  • Work with policymakers and the hospitality/tourism sector to significantly boost installation of destination chargepoints;
  • Celebrate businesses already delivering excellent charger infrastructure and inspire others to follow suit.

The campaign officially launched on 2 July at the Fleets in Charge Conference and is continuing throughout the summer with a special World EV Day Parliamentary Reception on 9 September, kindly hosted by Sarah Green MP.

Members are asked to share their stories of visiting tourist sites, hotels, or airports and either finding a reliable charger - or being disappointed when none were available. These will be used to help persuade policymakers that destination charging is not just a “nice-to-have” but a necessity for EV adoption.

Members can help by:

  1. Submitting your story and photos via the Bon VoyCharge website, highlighting both good and missed experiences with destination chargers.
  2. Write to your MP using the ready-to-go postcard tool - invite them to attend the 9 September Parliamentary Reception and see first-hand why destination charging needs their support
