By the end of this year, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will be introducing a digital Driving Licence (dDL). It will be one of the first digital documents delivered through the GOV.UK Wallet and App, providing customers with a convenient, highly secure and trusted companion to the physical driving licence.
The DVLA is working closely with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology on delivering the functionality needed for the digital driving licence as part of the GOV.UK Wallet.
The Customer Insight Team at DVLA will be conducting research on the digital Driving Licence. The purpose of this research is to gather insights from users who verify driving licences as part of their business processes - both to confirm driving entitlement and to validate individuals' identities. These insights will help inform potential changes and improvements to DVLA’s processes.
Members are invited to complete the short survey at: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/DDLStakeholders.
The survey closes on 17 July 2025. Completing the questionnaire is voluntary and, as all replies are anonymous, unfortunately the DVLA is unable to investigate any queries raised in response to the survey.
