Latest RVR forum reviewed

Eighty-four members joined the BVRLA’s first Residual Value and Remarketing Forum of 2021 last week, which focussed heavily on the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market.

Two live polls were conducted during the Forum. 

Poll 1 

Q: To encourage the uptake of EVs, which area should be prioritised/where we will gain most benefit?  

  • Support for the industry = 3.8% 
  • Consumer Benefits = 19.2%  
  • Consumer Communication = 30.8% 
  • Consumer Confidence = 46.2% 

Poll 2 

Q: What support measure will best address the used BEV RV challenge? 

  •  0% VAT on used BEVs and 0% VAT on used BEV personal contract payments = 74% 
  • A scrappage scheme that encouraged people to scrap their old petrol or diesel car for a used BEV = 21% 
  • Government underwriting residual values = 5%
