SM&CR: Implementing Change

This course will provide the necessary insight into the upcoming Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR), helping businesses to get ready for the go live on December 9th 2019. It will provide detail of the potential impact as a result of the move from the Approved Person Regime into SM&CR and will assist with the next steps required to ensure Regulatory Compliance.

Who should attend?

The SM&CR will apply to all firms who are currently subject to the Approved Persons Regime. From December 2019 the SM&CR will apply to all FCA solo-regulated consumer credit firms. Anyone with responsibility for the implementation for the regime will benefit from attending including Senior Managers responsible for compliance, HR, legal and operations.

Trainer

Steve Bloor is an experienced compliance professional who has operated at Board and Executive Management Committee level for a number of companies in the retail financial services sector, from major banks and insurance companies to intermediary firms and credit providers. He has over 20 years’ experience in senior legal, regulatory compliance and operational risk roles covering mortgages (1st & 2nd charge), consumer credit, investments, general insurance, life and pension products.

 

He also has detailed knowledge of the Consumer Credit Act, Data Protection Act and UK Anti Money  Laundering requirements. He has built and developed compliance teams and held CF10 and CF11 positions. He also has strong operational risk experience having managed operational risk teams and built, implemented and developed Risk Management Frameworks.

 

He holds an LL.B (Hons) degree in Law and also acted for a number of years as a consultant for a large Cardiff based law firm on financial services regulation and Consumer Credit matters. He has provided independent consultancy services to a number of companies both in the UK and overseas in relation to UK financial services regulation, including preparing and submitting  FCA applications and delivering approved persons training. He has also been actively involved in the implementation of SM&CR as a compliance adviser to a non-executive Director of a dual regulated insurance company.

Cancellation Policy 
Requests for cancellation of a training course booking must be received in writing via email to training@bvrla.co.uk for the attention of the Learning and Development Professional. Requests for cancellation received more than 30 days prior to the course start date incur an administrative charge for the processing of the refund at the rate of 25% of the course fee. Requests for cancellation received more 15-30 days prior to the course start date incur an administrative charge for the processing of the refund at the rate of 50% of the course fee. There is no refund on cancellations made 14 days or less prior to the course start date as there is an impact on other delegates who have booked to attend and could result in the course being cancelled overall.

Postponements
Postponement of attendance from one course to a later course can be requested in writing as per the cancellations policy above to training @bvrla.co.uk. Requests to postpone more than 30 days prior to the course start date will incur an administration charge of £35 + VAT. Requests to postpone more 15-30 days prior to the course will incur an administration charge of £70 + VAT. Requests to postpone 14 days or less prior to the course will be treated as a cancellation, with no refund payable.

Substitutions
You can request the substitution of a delegate for another in writing as per the cancellations policy above to training@bvrla.co.uk. There is no charge for this. Requests for substitution must be made no later than one business day prior to the scheduled course start date.
