Webinar to support compliance with customer reviews

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published the results of a web sweep of over 100 businesses as part of a new phase of its work to protect consumers who rely on online reviews.

The sweep looked at whether businesses had published policies prohibiting fake reviews and how they approach incentivised reviews, e.g. banning them or making it clear that they must be labelled and genuine – requirements that are set out in the CMA’s guidance.

Results of the sweep revealed over half of the businesses it looked at could be at risk of failing to comply with CMA guidance – the CMA is writing to the firms concerned.
