Support for furloughed staff

The BVRLA has free webinars and e-Learning packages at a modest cost to support members who have furloughed staff.

Supporting the health and well-being of staff is a duty of employers, and those responsibilities remain in force even when staff members have been furloughed as part of the Government’s employee retention scheme.

While it is clear that staff who have been furloughed are not allowed to undertake paid work for the employer, it is entirely reasonable for an employer to continue to make available the normal support frameworks to furloughed employees that would be a typical part of the work environment.

Such support frameworks might include regular keeping in touch emails, e-meetings (including e-social gatherings). It should also include personal development, and access to e-learning and other training materials.

Members can log on to the BVRLA website and access a range of free webinars, a flexible learning opportunity with webinars covering a wide range of topics.

The BVRLA e-Learning platform is perfectly placed to support home-based learning with packages available at a modest cost. Packages include those tailored to the industry to demonstrate compliance as well as those based on personal effectiveness.

Those who have not yet registered as a user of the BVRLA e-Learning Platform should email [email protected] to find out more.
