SMR and future trends focus of VFM Forum

In-life maintenance, vehicle off-road time, and SMR provisions were explored in detail at last week’s Vehicle and Fleet Management (VFM) Forum. Held at DAF Trucks in Haddenham, 60 member representatives joined the first forum of the year.

The hosts opened proceedings with a look at how service and back up keeps customers coming back. Delegates also heard the latest on laden brake testing and direct vision standard requirements, as well as demand for battery vehicles from DAF’s customers.

Keith Tabram from Kwik Fit then gave delegates an overview of tyre trends. His session looked at premium tyres and how all-season tyres are the fastest growing segment, while also covering tyre wear, tread depths, tyre abrasion, and future innovations.

A session from Vincent St Claire and Nikos Kotrozos of Fleet Assist and Steve Thornton of i247 Group then put the spotlight on trends and stats for SMR. The trio provided insights across SMR booking, mobile service, and external factors influencing parts availability and vehicle off road time.

The final VFM session of the February Forum saw Paul Johnson from The AA look at the evolving landscape and trends within accident management. Paul explored the topics of EV versus ICE, and the potential death of the courtesy car.

The Vehicle and Fleet Management Forum programme includes events in June at Toyota in Derbyshire and another in November, venue to be confirmed. Use the Forum Enquiry Form if interested in a subscription.
