Representing members at Labour Party Conference

The challenges relating to the used electric vehicle market and decarbonisation of rental operations at airports were common discussion points on the BVRLA’s stand at the Labour Party Conference this week.

For the second consecutive year, the association has had a formal presence at the event. Via a prominent exhibition stand and attending suitable industry talks and receptions, the BVRLA team has been able to further its engagements with Members of Parliament, government representatives and industry partners.

Central to the discussions was the ongoing Bon VoyCharge campaign, which is seeking improve delivery of destination charging solutions nationwide. A core part of that is the need for an Airport Electrification Strategy that will enable the rental sector to increase its provisions for electric vehicles on site.

Conversations expanded beyond the campaign and enabled the team to share member views on a host of challenges being tackled by the sector. These included the used EV market, motor finance, and the role of cars and vans in conjunction with public transport in urban areas.

Members wishing to engage further with the BVRLA’s work in this space are encouraged to joining the Industry Champions programme, or enquire about joining the Campaigns Working Group.
