The Department for Transport (DfT)has issued an update on the new regulation on the type approval of road vehicles and machinery engines.
As you may be aware, since 1 January 2021 an interim type approval scheme came into effect in Great Britain for passenger and goods vehicles, two and, three wheeled vehicles and quadricycles and agricultural vehicles. Earlier this year DfT consulted on proposals to introduce a full GB type approval scheme for passenger and goods vehicles, introduce a provisional scheme for engines for non-road mobile machinery and trailers for passenger and goods vehicles.
The subsequent UK Statutory Instrument (SI) on The Road Vehicles and Non-Road Mobile Machinery (Type-Approval) (Amendment and Transitional Provisions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2022 has now been published and can be found here - The Road Vehicles and Non-Road Mobile Machinery (Type-Approval) (Amendment and Transitional Provisions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2022 (legislation.gov.uk)
The SI will come into force at 11pm on 31 December 2022.
Further details of the type approval schemes and their implementation can be found on the website of the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA).
