HGV operators encouraged to get earlier tests

The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will be contacting vehicle operators about their test dates.

The MOT exemptions issued last year have led to changes in the typical testing profile.

The DVSA has been talking to Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) and operators about what testing demand looks like this year and are expecting some months will be busier than usual.

April is the first month in which a higher number of tests is predicted compared to a regular testing year. In February and March, there is a lower number of tests due to expire than normal. So, if tests are moved into those quieter months, there is more chance of meeting demand in April.

Vehicle operators can use the check ATF availability service.
