Guidance on connecting charge points to the grid

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has published new guidance on ‘Connecting electricity vehicle charge points to the electricity network’.

The BVRLA has worked with BEIS to ensure that the guidance meets the needs of the fleet industry and will help those looking to add electric vehicles to their fleet.

It will be particularly helpful to those who will need to engage with the energy sector for the first time to install charge points and arrange connection to the electricity network.

The guidance explains how to connect to the network, sets out the process, and includes links to useful extra resources.  It will be updated regularly as developments and changes arise.

BVRLA Senior Policy Advisor Catherine Bowen said “There is a lot of uncertainty around how and when the Transport Decarbonisation Plan and other decarbonisation consultations will be published, including a consultation on the HGV phase-out date and a Green Paper on post-EU regulations.

“We will continue to seek further clarity on the Transport Decarbonisation Plan and decarbonisation consultations and will keep members informed of progress.”

Caroline Low, Director of Environment and Future Mobility at the Department for Transport will be speaking at the BVRLA’s Fleets In Charge webinar on Wednesday 23 June. Those who cannot attend, can watch the webinar online after the event has taken place.

Members can also visit the BVRLA’s EV Hub for resources on EV adoption for fleets and businesses.
