Government launches review of roads policing

The Department for Transport has announced a review of roads policing as part of its Road Safety Action Plan, with the aim of improving road safety and reducing road casualties.

This will be a review of policing and traffic enforcement and will be launched later this year. The full plan will be announced on Friday 19 July.

The review will involve looking at:

•        how roads policing currently works and its effectiveness

•        where improvements could be made, or gaps bridged

•        how the police and different agencies work together and share information

It will involve a pilot scheme, which could be running from 2020.
