DVLA and the Post Office – vehicle taxing service

The BVRLA has reached out to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for reassurances around the services currently provided by the Post Office. There have been reports that contract negotiations have broken down, which could impact the ability to bulk tax vehicles over three years old and electric vehicles.

The DVLA and the Post Office are currently in discussions with regards to a contract extension. There has been press speculation that these discussions are not going well and could result in the Post Office not being able to offer a vehicle tax service anymore. Many BVRLA members rely on the Post Office to bulk tax vehicles, as the service is not currently available electronically.

The BVRLA will be meeting with the DVLA this week to get reassurance that any change in provider will still mean a bulk/flexible service is available or as an alternative the DVLA fast tracks its plans to deliver a bulk electronic service for all vehicle types. The association will keep members updated on the discussions with DVLA.
