Brexit: Government publishes temporary tariff regime for no-deal

The Government has published details of the UK’s temporary tariff regime for no deal, designed to minimise costs to business and consumers while protecting vulnerable industries.

The temporary tariffs would take effect on 29 March for a year, during which time there would be consultation on a permanent scheme.

Key points of relevance to members:

  • No tariffs on vehicle parts from EU
  • Tariffs on cars will be 10.6%
  • Tariffs on commercial vehicles will depend on size/weight (maximum of 22% can be applied)

Businesses are requested to check the right codes for goods and new temporary tariff rates, which can be found here.
