Press Release

Volvo Car UK gives its support to BVRLA’s 2016 Fleet Technology Congress

Release Date:

The BVRLA is delighted to announce that Volvo Car UK is to sponsor the 2016 Fleet Technology Congress, which takes place on 6 July 2016 at the Williams F1 Conference Centre in Grove, Oxfordshire.

Volvo has a goal of selling one million electrified cars by 2025, and plans to achieve this aim by offering at least two hybrid versions of every model in its range and releasing its first all-electric car in 2019.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Selwyn Cooper, Head of Business Sales at Volvo Car UK said: “The BVRLA Fleet Technology Congress is an incredibly important event for Volvo. Everything Volvo does is designed around people, so all our technological solutions have to make people’s lives simpler and safer. The Fleet Technology Congress is the ideal way to help shape the future of this technology – and, of course, to promote it, especially in terms of how it improves the safety and efficiency of our cars, and how much fleet drivers enjoy being in them.”

At the Fleet Technology Congress, representatives from the premium car manufacturer will be on hand to discuss Volvo Car UK’s approach to connected car services, and how it plans to engage with rental and leasing companies. Cooper added: “The BVRLA itself is critical to the automotive industry in terms of who it represents to the government and how it influences policy and strategy. The standards the BVRLA sets with its members also leads to enhanced professionalism in our industry, which is good news for everyone involved.”

Welcoming Volvo Car UK’s backing, BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney said: “We’re delighted that Volvo has recognised the knowledge, expertise and buying power of the fleet industry, and we are really pleased they want to support our third Fleet Technology Congress.”

Keaney added: “Volvo Car UK is a market leader and its technological knowledge and expertise has already been invaluable in helping us put together a strong agenda for the event. We look forward to giving delegates in-depth insight into a wide range of new trends and business models impacting the vehicle rental and leasing sector.”

The event will also include sessions on technology roadmaps, the compliance and risk implications of connected vehicles, and the next generation supply chain. Expert speakers will discuss what fleets should expect from future vehicle powertrains, predicting security concerns and how the automotive industry’s partners will move with the times.
