Weight restrictions at the Rotherhithe Tunnel

The BVRLA would like to remind members of the importance of advising customers of restrictions for the Rotherhithe Tunnel in East London.

Vehicles more than two metres (6'6") high, two metres (6'6") wide or goods vehicles weighing more than two tonnes (gross vehicle weight) are not permitted to travel through the Rotherhithe Tunnel.

Members should always advise customers of the weight and height of vans, so they know whether they need to find an alternative route. This is a BVRLA Code of Conduct requirement for commercial vehicles and compliance can be achieved by providing information in the vehicle, on the rental agreement, on an app or website.

The reason for the weight restriction at the tunnel is due to serious safety concerns and need for repairs.

Details are on the TFL website.
