The used BEV riddle

Recent used EV sales data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers (SMMT) showed a 60% year-on-year rise, a figure that was welcomed by Future of Roads Minister Lilian Greenwood on LinkedIn.

While the numbers appear encouraging to those shopping in the used market, industry observers warn that the picture is more complex. A sustainable used EV market is essential to support growth in new EV uptake.

The BVRLA will be putting this issue under the microscope at the upcoming Fleets in Charge Conference on 2 July, with a dedicated session titled ‘The used BEV riddle – does anyone know the answer?’

Chaired by a senior representative from Nexus, the session will bring experts together to examine the challenges and opportunities in the used EV market:

  • Ian Plummer, Auto Trader
  • Thomas Chieux, ICDP
  • Mike Costello, Cox Automotive Australia
  • Stephanie Valdez Streaty, Cox Automotive US

Topics for this session will include:

  • What drives natural demand for used BEVs and who’s buying them?
  • Are today’s BEVs just a stepping stone to next-gen models with faster charging and broader appeal?
  • Which used BEV policy interventions will work?

More details of the full agenda, speakers and panellists.

The Conference is taking place on Wednesday 2 July at the QEII Centre in London.

Members can book at a discounted ‘Saver’ rate of £399 + VAT – available until 30 May only.
