Are electric trucks going to deliver? Or will hydrogen HGVs do all the heavy lifting? At the BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge Conference in September, vans and HGVs will take centre stage in ‘The Great Zero-emission Freight Debate’.
The session will feature commercial vehicle experts who will provide insights to support members working with HGVs and developing vehicle transition strategies.
Taking part in the hydrogen or electric debate will be:

- David Thackray, Strategic Relations Officer, Tevva Motors
- David Petts, Take it to Market Leader, Urban Electrified Van Programme, Ford Motor Company
The debate will cover hot topics such as:
- Is the 2030 ban viable for vans? 2035/2040 for HGVs?
- Is hydrogen a silver bullet for vans and trucks?
- How do we plan infrastructure for trucks?
- Will we need exemptions from the 2035/2040 HGV Diesel ban or can existing/emerging solutions/models make this viable?
- With ongoing technological uncertainty (hydrogen v electric) what can we do now to decarbonise - how do e-fuels feature?
Beyond the Great Freight Debate, further conference panel discussions will cover:
- Can we be Cheerful about Charging? EV experts reveal why there are plenty of reasons to be positive when it comes to electric vehicle infrastructure
- Retail in Detail: What is happening in the retail new and used BEV market?
The one-day Conference will take place at the QEII conference centre in London on Wednesday 20 September.
