BVRLA consultation response: Safe Use of Automated Lane Keeping System (ALKS)

The BVRLA has responded to the Department for Transport's Call for Evidence on the Safe use of Automated Lane Keeping System (ALKS) on British motorways.

In its reponse the association outlines a number of reservations relating to the scenario where any vehicle approved to the ALKS regulation would be automatically considered to be an automated vehicle under the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act (AEVA). The response also highlights the vital need to educate drivers about the abilities and limitations of the system to ensure it is used safely.
