Reform proposals for Northern Ireland Protocol

Members are continuing to face challenges getting vehicles into Northern Ireland with the current Northern Ireland Protocol not working for the vehicle leasing and rental sector.

The BVRLA has championed these issues with HM Revenue & Customs, the Northern Ireland Select Committee, Ministerial meetings and through parliamentary questions.

HMRC has assured the BVRLA that the Northern Ireland Command Paper, which sets out how the UK would like to see the Protocol reformed, has considered the needs of the leasing and rental sector.

The EU will be required to agree with the proposals set out in the Command Paper before they become regulation. Until there is a new agreement, it is expected there will be continued disruption to the Northern Irish market.

If any members have views or feedback on the Command Paper or Protocol they are welcome to share their views with [email protected]
