There will be planned disruption to the DVLA's View Driving Licence (VDL) and Share Driving Licence (SDL) services between 19:00 on Saturday 17th September to 00:30 on Sunday 18 September 2016. During this period, the DVLA will be unable to verify National Insurance (NI) numbers.

Although drivers affected by the disrupted period will not be able to create a new check code during this time, the ‘Check Driving Licence’ online service will continue to operate. This will allow car hire companies or employers to access driver records using any check codes generated prior to the disrupted period. Driver check codes will remain valid for a 21 day period. In addition, a driver can have up to 15 active check codes in play at any one time.

Once signed in to the BVRLA website, members are able to view the licence checking fact sheet online
