New international data laws being considered

The BVRLA is seeking member input on plans to update the regulations covering international exchanges of personal data.

The ICO, the UK body set up to uphold information rights, is consulting on a draft international data transfer agreement (IDTA), which will replace the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

It wants to hear about any privacy, legal, economic or policy considerations and is keen to get the perspective of a wide range of different stakeholders, not just data processors or data protection practitioners.

The ICO is running online workshops in September which are open to anyone involved in the international transfer of data.

If you are involved in international data transfers and can help the BVRLA understand any possible considerations for the vehicle rental and fleet sector, please get in touch at [email protected]

The consultation ends on Thursday 7th October.
