HMRC warns against using loans to escape OpRA rules

HMRC has stated that it may challenge instances where loans are being used to get around the Optional Remuneration Arrangements (OpRA) rules.

To get around the OpRA rules, some employers are entering their employees into arrangements that involve paying an amount of money, which would otherwise be classified as earnings, through a loan facility.
