Following the decision to waive the requirement for drivers to show Green Cards, the insurance industry is continuing to issue them for a further month to allow time for border officers to get familiar with the new rules.
The new legislation that takes effect as of 2 August 2021 means that there will be no need for UK drivers travelling in the European Economic Area to show a Green Card.
The insurance industry will continue to make them available until 2 September 2021 and vehicle rental companies who are allowing vehicles to go abroad may wish to consider a similar approach.
