The government has launched an independent review into the delivery of net zero climate commitments, with a focus on ensuring the UK’s fight against climate change maximises economic growth, while increasing energy security and affordability for consumers and businesses.
The UK’s target to reach net zero by 2050 remains in place. Former Energy Minister Chris Skidmore MP is leading the rapid review of the government’s approach to delivering its net zero target.
Since the government published its Net Zero Strategy there have been major changes to the economic and political landscapes. These changes have placed huge pressures on British households and businesses. The review aims to identify new ways to deliver the legally binding target by 2050 in a way that is pro-business and pro-growth.
Mr Skidmore will consult widely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including investors, industry, and experts in different fields, through a series of roundtables and direct meetings.
See the Net Zero Review: Call for Evidence on the GOV.UK website. The consultation closes on 27 October 2022. If you would like to feed your views into the BVRLA response, email [email protected]
