Extension of Plug-in Grant completion deadlines

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles has written to the BVRLA to confirm that there will be an extension to the window of time for Plug-in Grant orders to complete.

The decision comes after the BVRLA and others raised concerns that members were facing hefty additional costs or cancellations as delays nudged vehicles out of the grant eligibility window, despite orders being placed in good time.

Taking into account the longer lead times and delays brought about by semiconductor shortages,

OZEV has confirmed that the following steps are being taken:

  • It will extend the window by three months. Orders placed on the Plug-in Grant portal within the nine months prior to 5 August 2021 will be allowed an additional three months, therefore a total of 12 months, to complete.

  • It will continue to allow 12-month completion periods for new orders placed on the portal for the next six months. This will end at 23:59pm on 4 February 2022.

Members can read the full detail supplied by OZEV on the BVRLA website.

Acknowledging the ongoing supply issues, OZEV has confirmed that further extensions may be considered, depending on the state of the market. The BVRLA has welcomed the steps being taken by OZEV and is grateful to see that the issue will remain under review as market conditions are monitored.
