DfT receives surge in plug-in vehicle grant requests

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles has advised that it has received a surge in applications for the plug-in vehicle grants in recent months.

It has seen both the number of models entering the market and the uptake of zero and ultra-low emission vehicles increasing over the past few months and the level of demand is currently higher than it anticipated.

It has revised the Plug-in Van and Motorcycle guidance on how long an application is likely to take to process.

OLEV will work closely with the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) which checks and approves applications to the grant scheme, to increase capacity and speed up the approvals process.

If you are planning to submit vehicles for approval you are advised to give as much prior notice as possible, as this will help OLEV and VCA plan and ensure that there is sufficient resource in place to process these applications quickly as the market for zero and ultra-low emission vehicles develops.
