Clean Air Zone update for early 2023

Members are reminded that Tyneside (Newcastle and Gateshead) is introducing its Clean Air Zone (CAZ) for non-compliant taxis, buses, coaches and HGVs on Monday 30 January 2023, and for non-compliant vans/LGVs from July 2023.

Sheffield is due to launch its Class C CAZ on Monday 27 February 2023. Charges will apply to taxis, private hire, buses, coaches, HGVs and LCVs. For more information visit the Clean Air Sheffield website.

You can check if you will be charged in these areas on the Government’s vehicle checker.

The Joint Air Quality Unit (JAQU) is currently reviewing the evidence provided for a changed Greater Manchester clean air proposal and that CAZ is on hold. Visit Cleanairgm to remain updated.

Transport for London is expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone in 2023.

See the BVRLA’s Clean Air Zones page for information on the UK’s existing and proposed CAZs.
