BVRLA submits ZEV Mandate response

From 2024, the Government hopes to introduce a new Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate in order to drive a rapid increase in the number of electric vehicles brought into the UK market.

The BVRLA welcomed the contents of the recent technical consultation on zero emission vehicle mandate policy design and has now submitted a response to the Department for Transport (DfT).

Clear trajectories for the implementation of the mandate, split based on the uptake of cars and vans, give the UK the opportunity to secure the vehicle supply required to meet demand and support the nation’s drive to Net Zero.

The DfT will assess the responses received and will be producing a further consultation on the design for the ZEV mandate based on the responses received later in the summer. This will also outline DfT’s thoughts on the definition and role of hybrids.
