BVRLA needs your views on the Future of Mobility

The Government is considering the future regulatory environment for autonomous vehicles and the BVRLA needs to hear more views from members.

Although fully autonomous vehicle fleets are some way off, the Government is also looking at new regulations that could be applied to vehicles that have certain autonomous Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) onboard. These vehicles will be hitting the roads much sooner.

Ahead of the launch of the third and final consultation on autonomous vehicles from the Law Commission, the BVRLA is calling on members to join its Future Mobility and Data working group.

The BVRLA plans to invite the Law Commission to the next Future Mobility and Data working group taking place in the new year, to go through some of the key themes from the latest consultation.

The consultation will explore themes such as the meaning of self-driving, safety and the user and fleet operators’ responsibility.

Liability and data access will be key issues addressed. Both these issues have significant implications for the rental, leasing and fleet sector and its essential the association takes the opportunity to inform the debate from an early stage.
