Today, the BVRLA and a cross section of members from the Committee of Management met with the Shadow Transport Minister to discuss the role of our sector and highlight the issues an incoming government must be aware of. Hosted by Bill Esterson MP in Parliament, the round table featured senior representatives from BVRLA members of all sizes across rental and leasing.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity to introduce an influential politician to the sector and highlight the vital role it is playing in road transport decarbonisation.
On the agenda were discussion points spanning current market conditions for leasing and rental, the importance of reinforcing the strong foundations that are enabling the transition to zero-emission vehicles, and the necessity to provide more support to commercial vehicles.
All discussion points are reinforced in the BVRLA’s Future of Fleets manifesto, published in November and designed to guide conversations with policy makers ahead of a General Election.
Mr Esterson asked for a wider briefing as a result of the meeting and the BVRLA will be following up in due course.
Forging strong relationships with politicians of all parties is a cornerstone of the public affairs and campaigning work the BVRLA undertakes on behalf of members. Being known and regarded as a credible voice for the sector is a valuable way to make the sector’s voice heard.
