As membership hit a new high in 2021, the BVRLA has outlined its plans to invest in training, research, and public affairs in 2022.

Membership grew to 1,022 from 974 last year, with the BVRLA now representing more leasing brokers and companies operating commercial vehicles than ever before. The light commercial fleet is up 2% year on year, now making up 21% of the total BVRLA fleet and accounting for one in five vans on UK roads.

The evolution of the BVRLA membership, alongside direct input from members through the annual survey, collectively help to guide the association’s activities.

BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney said: “2022 is set to be a pivotal year for our industry. The policies that government and regulators are working on this year – road pricing, the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales mandate and the new Consumer Duty – will set the operating environment for the next decade.

“Our lobbying priorities are developed with the needs of all BVRLA members in mind and we have ambitious plans to invest across our services to ensure we deliver.”

In line with these investments, the BVRLA has shared its updated Business Plan and introduced new vision and mission statements. Together, they keep activity on track and enable members to hold the association to account.

The BVRLA’s three-year business plan, comes on the back of the association publishing its Annual Review for 2021. The review includes the results of the most recent member survey, which informs BVRLA activity for the year ahead, also highlighting the areas in which members require the most support.
