As hundreds of local authorities in the UK battle with how to develop an EV charging strategy, the government is offering a helping hand.
A new, government-funded ‘electric vehicle infrastructure training course’ aims to upskill local authority officers as they co-ordinate the deployment of public charging infrastructure. The course is currently being tested in advance of a full launch in Spring 2024.
The new course will be funded by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), whose Joint Head Lizzie Culwick will be giving an update from Government at the BVRLA’s Fleets in Charge webinar ‘Vans – becoming the road to zero hero’ next week.
The OZEV Update will also cover the impact of ZEV mandate, coming into effect from 1 January 2024 and initially requiring 22% of new van sales in 2024 to be fully electric.
Attending the free webinar will give delegates an update on the decarbonisation picture for vans and understand what additional progress is to be expected in 2024.
