Views sought on Future of Transport Regulatory Review

The Government’s Future of Transport Regulatory Review consultation series will be closing soon and there are three key areas on which the BVRLA is seeking member feedback.

Do not miss the opportunity to help shape the BVRLA’s response to the consultation in the following key areas:

Zero Emission Vehicles where the Government is seeking powers that would enable it to intervene in areas such as the design, planning and provision of charge points, including their safety and accessibility. It is consulting on what consumer protection may be needed, who should be responsible and the form this should take (such as fines). It is also seeking a new government power to require EV charging infrastructure in non-residential car parks (whether or not they are publicly accessible).

Modernising Vehicle Standards where the Government is seeking powers to regulate the safety, security, and environmental performance of vehicles, including tackling tampering/clocking.

Regulatory Sandboxes (definition of a regulatory sandbox) which will help the Government identify the types of technologies/deployments that a sandbox should support and decide what legislative support and flexibility might be needed.

The BVRLA’s policy team is keen to hear from you now if you have any feedback on these key areas of concern. To provide feedback or to seek any further information contact [email protected].
