Views sought on CO2 emissions regulatory framework

The BVRLA is formulating a response to the Government’s consultation on the proposed options for a carbon dioxide (CO2) regulatory framework for all new road vehicles in the UK.

The framework aims to deliver the CO2 reductions required to meet the UK's net zero commitments and ensure that phase out dates of 2030/35 can be met. Initially this will apply to cars and vans but a framework for other vehicle types is also being considered to support the phase out for HGVs.

The association is keen to hear from members to help inform the industry response and would like any comments or feedback to be emailed to BVRLA Senior Policy Advisor Catherine Bowen by Friday 27 August.

The Department for Transport and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles will be meeting with the BVRLA on 8 September, ahead of the consultation close date and members will be invited to present key parts of the association’s response. This will hopefully help to influence Government’s thinking and will allow members to raise areas of concern and pose questions.
