The future of the used car market

The BVRLA’s Head of Decarbonisation and Future Mobility, Catherine Bowen took part in a panel discussion at the Financial Times’ Future of the Car Summit last week.

The theme of the event was the transition from ICE vehicles and the slow consumer uptake of electric vehicles, as well as evolving sales models in the automotive industry.

Catherine joined the ‘Future-proofing the used car market - strategies for managing residual values’ panel. Participants discussed the used market and what measures are needed to drive demand for used BEVs, as well as explaining why this is so important. The panel looked at factors such as battery degradation, rapid technological advancements, shifting consumer demand, data analytics, new technologies and value-added services from OEMs.
