Review of recent TOM Forum

Over 50 members joined the BVRLA for the first Technical and Operational Management (TOM) Forum of the year, hosted by the Institute of the Motor Industry in Hertford.

The theme for the forum was Electric Vehicles.

Representatives from Thatcham Research, KwikFit, SureTrak and Allianz presented and the BVRLA’s Senior Policy Advisors provided an update on the association’s policy activities, including air quality, Clean Air Zones and taxation.

There was also a workshop session where members were asked to identify the main issues faced in relation to EVs, how the TOM Committee and the wider association can assist in tackling them and topics for future forums.

Pictures from the event can be viewed on the association’s Flickr channel and the speakers’ presentations can now be downloaded.

The next Technical and Operational Forum will be held on 4 June, venue to be confirmed.

This week will see 2020’s first Residual Value and Remarketing (RVR) Forum, hosted by Copart. It is taking place in Stratford upon Avon on Thursday (13 February).

On the agenda; Rupert Pontin, Director of Insight at Cazana will update on the used vehicle marketplace, Graeme Chaplin, Agent at Bank of England will provide commentary on the current economic outlook for the UK and BVRLA Government Affairs Manager Paul Thompson will give the association’s latest guidance and update on Brexit.
