There is a new UK Emergency Alerts service that will warn people if there’s a danger to life nearby.
The service will broadcast messages to people’s phones in the event of a scenario that poses a significant threat to life.
Alerts may be about:
- severe flooding
- fires
- extreme weather.
Emergency Alerts will only be sent by:
- the emergency services
- government departments, agencies and public bodies that deal with emergencies.
On Sunday 23 April 2023, there will be a national test of the UK Emergency Alerts service.
There are assets available including for social media, a factsheet and video, if members would like to use them to communicate the test to customers. The BVRLA will also issue reminders about the test nearer the time.
