MPs express concerns about ultra-low emission vehicle uptake

A parliamentary committee raised their concerns, and the concerns of BVRLA members with Transport Minister Jesse Norman MP at an Environmental Audit Committee on 3 April.

Concerns raised included the misalignment across fiscal, business and environmental policy impacting BVRLA members, including the impact of tax changes, WLTP and the abolition of the Plug in Car Grant.

The association also emphasised the important role the vehicle rental, leasing and fleet sector can play in helping to deliver some of the government’s environmental goals.

MPs quizzed the Minister on the lack of targets for ULEVs uptake; what the government will do to incentivise this and why more is not being done to support existing drivers, such as company car tax.

Other areas covered included the cost of pure EVs for consumers and the need for more EV charging infrastructure.
