Leeds CAZ: financial support for HGV operators

Leeds City Council is inviting HGV operators to submit grant applications to upgrade non-compliant vehicles prior to the implementation of the Leeds Clean Air Charging Zone (CAZ).

The Leeds CAZ was due to be launched in January 2020, but this has now been pushed back until at least July 2020. Non-compliant vehicles (below Euro 6 diesel) will be charged £50 per day to drive in the CAZ. The grants available are capped at £16,000 per vehicle. A maximum of one application can be submitted per company and a maximum of five vehicle upgrades can be applied for.

The scheme went live on 1 August and applications can be made until 29 August. It is open to any operators that drive extensively within the CAZ, but evidence is required in support of any claim.

All awards are subject to sufficient funds being available.

Applicants will need to register their interest in the grant scheme. The website also has the relevant documentation, including the application form, completion instructions (including all eligibility criteria), and a list of supporting evidence required.

Register expressions of interest in the scheme.
