The Department for Transport has announced its intention to improve the quality of UK roads and reduce the negative impact of potholes.
A new performance-based inspection regime is being introduced that will hold utility companies to account and ensure that their road works meet strict standards. Those not meeting those standards with face financial penalties, to incentivise companies to leave roads in a good condition once works have been completed.
