The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has published its guidance on Unfair Commercial Practices, with the move coming as the body has opened investigations into eight businesses suspected of breaking consumer law.
Rental businesses do not immediately feature in the eight investigations, or further 100 advisory letters issued to firms across 14 sectors. Members are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the contents of the Unfair Commercial Practices guidance, which looks at price transparency and details around what is considered to be ‘drip’ or ‘partitioned’ pricing.
The investigations are the first to be launched under new consumer protection powers granted by the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act.
The CMA is hosting a webinar on Wednesday 10 December (15:00-16:00) to give an overview of the new price transparency requirements and how to comply with them. Register here: https://connect.cma.gov.uk/webinar-price-transparency-guidance-for-businesses
