BVRLA enhances its IT capabilities

Michael Skinner joins the BVRLA this week as Head of IT, a new role responsible for the association’s IT infrastructure, operations and systems.

Reporting to Legal & Membership Director, Shashi Maharaj, Michael will help to further develop and strengthen the BVRLA’s IT capabilities and will also manage the association’s outsourced support service provider and track digital technologies to help the association achieve its strategic goals.

Michael brings with him a strong track record of project and operational delivery, business engagement and IT service management across multiple sectors. His most recent position was as Group Head of IT at Nexus Infrastructure plc.

Investment into this new role follows earlier investment into strengthening the association’s cyber security credentials. In 2020, the BVRLA commissioned consultants, Grant Thornton to review the association’s IT infrastructure and cyber security protocols.

Having achieved the Cyber Essentials accreditation in 2019, the BVRLA focussed on further enhancing the association’s data protection and business continuity processes and will soon be applying for the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation.
