BVRLA chief meets ministers to discuss HGVs and Clean Air Zones

Last week BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney met with Transport Minister Jesse Norman and Environment Minister Dr Therese Coffey to discuss the fair treatment of HGVs and Clean Air Zones.

Gerry was joined by industry leaders from the Freight Transport Association, National Franchised Dealers Association and the Road Haulage Association. The trade body coalition put forward a case focussing on six recommendations as set out in a CAZ and HGVs factsheet.

Following the meeting, Gerry said: “The meeting was constructive, with the two ministers offering feedback on most of the recommendations made by the group. The Ministers were particularly complimentary of the work BVRLA has undertaken with local authorities on plans for CAZs as well as acknowledging the need for consistency in the approaches taken by different cities across the UK. Despite this, both ministers did stop short of agreeing to any specific measures.”
